The second phase of the border crisis is the impact that illegal immigration will have on local governments and communities. We have seen thousands of illegal aliens crossing the border, and now we see their impact on communities.
The first act of illegal immigrants is an illegal act. What part of the word "illegal" don't some people not understand? Like all crimes, we cannot excuse and reward any ILLEGAL immigration, otherwise, we get more and worse. For example, more than 2.76 million illegal aliens crossed the border during Biden's first year in office, in last fiscal 2021.
Illegal alien students are a burden on local public schools because state and local taxes will be spent on a population that does not contribute. There is a strain on special education resources, and even health concerns about unvaccinated children. These newly arrived illegal aliens have not paid into the public education system, yet they are beneficiaries.
Illegal aliens are provided with welfare services such as medical services and housing. Again, these newly arrived illegal aliens have not paid into the public welfare system.
Historically, illegal aliens have filled the need for cheap labor in the U.S. However, most of the illegal aliens crossing borders are unskilled, undereducated people. They are competing with unskilled domestic workers and filling the ranks of the unemployed urban centers. Again, these newly arrived illegal aliens have not paid into the public federal unemployment system.
During the Biden border surge, aliens were not properly vetted and there is no knowledge of how many criminals and terrorists have entered the U.S.
Some are career criminals and members of gangs like the Venezuelan "Tren de Aragua" or the "MS 13" from El Salvador. Some terrorists sent to carry out attacks in the U.S. However, most have committed minor crimes once they arrived such as driving without a valid license or insurance.
Also, sanctuary cities and states have refused to cooperate with federal immigration law enforcement making it hard to detain and deport illegal alien criminals. These liberal sanctuaries are also usually liberal jurisdictions where the police have been limited in their activities. Many also have George Soros-funded District Attorneys who have been lenient on illegal alien criminals and released them repeatedly to commit more crimes.
The fact is that crimes committed by illegal aliens would never have been committed had it not been for their illegal presence in the country. The crime could have been avoided and prevented.
The removal and deportation of illegal alien criminals and terrorists is a matter of national security and public safety.
Americans should ask if these millions of illegal aliens who all arrived in such a short time, integrate and become Americans? Or will "diversity" and liberal politics create more national division and internal anti-American sentiments?
The liberal news media looms large in the border crisis and illegal immigration debate because it shapes public opinion and influences politics. They constantly portray illegal aliens as victims and immigration law enforcement as villains.
The liberal news media has been successful in manipulating the public debate by using the term "migrants" instead of the accurate term "illegal aliens." They have played the "race" and "sympathy" cards in reporting the border crisis and the impact of illegal aliens on local communities but ignored the impact and costs to citizens.
Spanish-language media has been the worst in their reporting of the border crisis. Their news reports favor illegal aliens and justify illegal immigration. Spanish-language media is helping to isolate illegal aliens instead of encouraging their integration and assimilation and discouraging more illegal immigration.
The border crisis that saw millions of illegal aliens enter the U.S. during the Biden Administration, has moved from the border to America's backyard. Americans should ask themselves, "What is the point of being a legal lawful citizen, if an illegal alien gets the same rights and benefits?" We must not excuse and reward illegal immigration.
