Three Migrants Drowned, and Texas Gov. Abbott Is Blamed
Three illegal aliens, a woman and two children, drowned in the Rio Grande near Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas, on Friday, Jan. 12, around 9 pm, immediately triggering condemnation by Democrats of the Texas state government’s efforts to control the border. Democrats and the Fake News allies have claimed faulted Texas for having a barbed wire fence and not responding to the victims.

However, this most recent tragedy is not the fault of Texas but of the Biden Administration and the adult migrants who risk their and their children’s lives. Furthermore, the drowning was on the Mexican side of the river, and it was Mexico that failed to respond. The Biden Administration and the open-borders radicals are playing this incident up like the alleged “Haitian whipping” incident that was debunked.

The number of migrant deaths on the southern border has increased since the Biden Administration made entry and staying in the United States easy. In fiscal year 2022 (Oct. 2021 – Sept. 2022), there were 853 known illegal alien deaths, compared to 546 migrant deaths recorded by Border Patrol in fiscal year 2021. “Known” because no one knows how many died whose bodies have not been located and counted.

Democrat U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar from Laredo immediately blamed Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott for the tragedy. He alleged Texas Military Department soldiers denied access to the federal agents to rescue or assist the three drowning victims.
The Biden Administration is demanding the razor wire and Texas military personnel be removed from Shelby Park. The park has been a popular landing spot for illegal aliens crossing the river and a staging area for nonprofits to meet and greet them for transport into the United States. Gov. Abbott secured the park to deter, if not stop, the flow of illegal aliens.
However, illegal alien deaths are not the fault of a nation, state, and people who are protecting their borders from foreigners. Illegal aliens knowingly risk their lives and the lives of their children to come to the United States.
Illegal alien adults risk hunger, violence, rape, disease, kidnapping, and death to come and enter the U.S. illegally. They also risk the lives of their children.
It is unfair and unrealistic to expect the State of Texas, which has suffered greatly from the border crisis and illegal immigration, not to act to protect its border with Mexico. Texas must act, especially since the Biden Administration has failed.
Furthermore, adult illegal aliens should understand that if they see razor wire and military personnel on the other side of the Rio Grande, it is not a welcoming committee. They should take the hint and cross elsewhere, or better yet, not at all.
Shamelessly, Cong. Cuellar and other Democrats continue to play politics with immigration and illegal aliens’ lives. Their concerns are not for the hundreds of illegals dying but for their political narrative. And the local and state news media helps them with the messaging.
The drowning deaths in Eagle Pass were a tragedy. However, the decision was made by the adult to endanger her children from the time they left their homeland until they reached the Rio Grande.
At the river’s edge, the adult decided to cross a cold, deep, fast-moving river at 9 pm and again endanger her children. She could also see the barbed wire and Texas military guards were there to deter illegal immigration, but she still decided to cross.
The state of Texas did nothing to cause the drowning. On the contrary, the presence of razor wire and the state military should have stopped her from crossing. But she did it anyway.
Furthermore. when the migrant woman and her children experienced trouble in the river, it was Mexican authorities who interfered. However, just like the alleged “Haitian whipping” incident, the Biden Administration is using it for political fodder against Republican efforts to control the border.
The Department of Homeland Security sent a cease-and-desist letter to Texas on Sunday, Jan.14, demanding that the Texas state stop blocking access to the U.S. Border Patrol to the park area where the migrants drowned over the weekend. But Gov. Abbott is standing firm.
The death of the three illegal aliens was a tragedy. However, instead of trying to shame the state of Texas for protecting its citizens and property, the Democrats should remember the dangers are practically zero for LEGAL immigrants and a controlled border. LEGAL immigration and a controlled border will cut down on the number of deaths of illegal aliens.
